Experienced defender Jordi Alba, who has been a key figure at Barcelona for a decade, has mutually agreed to terminate his contract one year earlier than planned. In a revealing interview with 'Mundo Deportivo,' Alba shared details about his decision and his plans for the future.
Alba explained, "It was a sudden decision, but I had been thinking about it for one or two weeks. I could have selfishly stayed for another year, but for the good of the club and myself, it was better to take a step back. That's how I felt."
After playing 459 matches and winning 14 titles with Barcelona, Jordi Alba bids farewell to the club in search of new challenges. His departure leaves behind an important legacy and a position that, according to him, will be covered for a long time thanks to the talent of Balde.
While maintaining his place in the football elite is a priority for Alba, he doesn't rule out any options for his future. He expressed his desire to evaluate all possibilities and discuss them with his family. The experienced 34-year-old player is open to any offer that allows him to continue competing at the highest level, but he also wants to consider what is best for his wife and children.
Despite rumors of a possible move to Inter Milan last summer, Alba noted that a move to a less competitive league like the MLS and the possibility of reuniting with former teammates like Leo Messi and Sergio Busquets is complicated. "Of course, I would like to play with all those I shared a dressing room with, in addition to our great friendship, but everyone must look out for their own interests”.
