Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of the most important players in the world for 20 years. His goals, dribbles and assists have amazed fans around the world and made him a star. Since his beginnings at Sporting Lisbon, he has shown a rare talent that has allowed him to play for the world's top clubs, such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

Now CR7 is the highest paid player on the planet, since he accepted a multi-million dollar offer from Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia in December 2022. There he has a salary of more than $200 million per year. And not only that, he also caused a total change on the world soccer map, as since his arrival in the Pro League, more and more top players are following his path.

However, all this might not have happened for one incredible reason: Cristiano had a serious health problem when he was very young that put his professional career at risk.

The details of this situation were revealed by his mother, Dolores Aveiro, in an interview with Daily Mail. There the woman said: “'His heart raced a lot when he wasn't running. Before we knew exactly what he had, I was worried because there was the possibility of him giving up playing football. Cristiano wasn’t very worried, he didn’t take the situation very seriously, but I got a big fright”.

Everything went well

Fortunately, the surgery had the expected result and Cristiano Ronaldo was able to continue playing soccer for many years to come. Aveiro added: “They used a sort of laser to cauterise the source of the problem. He was operated on in the morning and came out at the end of the afternoon. The treatment went well and after some days he was back at training again.'It seems the treatment allowed him to run even faster!'
