One of the most awaited news for the Culés fans was confirmed this Monday: Barcelona and Manchester City reached an agreement for the loan of Joao Cancelo, one of the players that Xavi Hernández insisted for the most this summer. The coach believes that the squad needs a right-back and the Portuguese player has the ideal characteristics.
But the player has not yet arrived in Catalonia, as he is waiting for the Spanish side to confirm the signing. What remains is for Barcelona to receive the €15 million that the investment fund Libero must pay for the purchase of a percentage of Barça Vision, something that should happen between Monday and Tuesday.
Once Cancelo joins the squad, there will only be room for one more signing. And it is not certain that it will happen. The manager believes that more players are needed, but financial problems make it difficult to bring in reinforcements. For that to happen, someone will have to leave. Clement Lenglet, Abde, Ansu Fati, Marcos Alonso and Eric Garcia are the ones who are likely to leave, but there are no advanced negotiations for any of them yet.
Should this happen, Barcelona will have to solve another problem: according to Marca, Xavi and Joan Laporta have different opinions on who should be the latest signing. For the coach the priority is Giovani Lo Celso, as he needs a creative midfielder. But the president believes they should sign Joao Felix, as he is a talented youngster who could be valuable in the future.
Joao Felix is not considered a priority for Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone. That is why he wants to leave the Spanish side and analyze offers from Benfica and Al-Hilal. Giovani Lo Celso returned this summer to his parent club, Tottenham. There he has been a substitute in the first Premier League matches and entered in the last one, against Bournemouth. The advantage of the Argentine player is that his salary is lower than Joao Felix's and Tottenham are asking less money to let him go.
