Manchester United is in search of a new goalkeeper who better fits the playing philosophy of coach Erik Ten Hag, and according to reports, Jordan Pickford has become the main option to reinforce the Red Devils' goalkeeping position.
Although David de Gea won the Premier League Golden Glove award this season, his performance has faced criticism in recent months, leaving his future at the club in doubt. Despite Manchester United offering him a new contract with lower wages, he is likely no longer considered the number one goalkeeper, even if he accepts the offer.
In their search for an upgrade in goalkeeping, Manchester United has been linked with players like André Onana from Inter Milan, but as reported by the Daily Star, Ten Hag has been impressed with Jordan Pickford's abilities and sees him as the ideal goalkeeper for his team.
It is expected that Manchester United will submit a 52 million EUR offer to Everton next week, taking advantage of the precarious financial situation of the club. Although Pickford is said to be committed to Everton, Manchester United would be willing to double his current salary.
In addition to the attractive salary, the Red Devils would offer Pickford the opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time in his career. However, Everton has Pickford under contract until 2027 after renewing his contract in February. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been at Goodison Park since 2017 when he was sold by Sunderland.
