Barcelona has started taking measures following Lionel Messi's snub, as he decided to join MLS side Inter Miami. The Catalan club is aware that they need a top-level star for the upcoming season, and one of the names that emerged as a possibility was the return of Neymar.
According to the newspaper Sport, Barcelona has the necessary budget to sign a major European football star, and Neymar offered himself to the Catalan club. However, coach Xavi Hernández completely ruled out the return of the Brazilian player.
Paris Saint-Germain is looking for an exit for Neymar, aiming to avoid problems with UEFA's Financial Fair Play as the Brazilian's salary exceeds 40 million EUR per season, and he has a contract with the Parisian club until June 2025.
Although Neymar offered himself to Barcelona, it appears that his return is not part of the club's plans at the moment. Barcelona is focused on other priorities and on signing players who fit their sporting project.
Xavi commented in an interview, “It is surprising news about Neymar. In theory, it is not in our plans. I appreciate him a lot, but we have other priorities. The sports department already knows all the names”.
