Eden Hazard's time at Real Madrid will not be remembered fondly by the fans. The Belgian player, whose transfer in the summer of 2019 cost a staggering 100 million EUR, spent most of his time on the bench or in the medical room. Throughout his stay in Spain, he failed to prove his worth and ultimately left the club four years after his arrival.
At 32 years old, the former Lille player is now contemplating his future, considering options such as MLS or even the possibility of ending his career. He is likely very disappointed with his time in Spain, as are his former teammates who had high expectations for him. One of them is Toni Kroos, who uses Hazard's case as an example to remain calm following the announcement of Jude Bellingham's 103 EUR million transfer.
The German midfielder hints at his suspicions regarding the matter. "103 million EUR! We also had someone who arrived for a huge sum of money and practically did nothing but rest," Kroos points out without directly mentioning Hazard.
However, Kroos also sees positive aspects in Bellingham's arrival. "It's a lot of money, but let's focus on the positive. Bellingham seems to be a very strong player," concedes the midfielder on his podcast, where he analyzes the addition of a high-level competitor in midfield.
With these statements, Kroos hints at his discontent with Hazard's lack of performance and expresses his confidence in Real Madrid's new signing, Jude Bellingham, as a player with the potential to make a difference in the team. The German's indirect message is clear, emphasizing the importance of justifying the high cost of a transfer through solid and consistent performance on the field.
