Barcelona continues its search for reinforcements for the upcoming season, and after exploring the possibility of signing Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich, economic problems and difficulties in registering players have cooled down that option. Despite the player's interest and willingness to pressure Bayern, the circumstances are complicated.
In light of this situation, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández has shifted his attention to another target, Zubimendi. The 24-year-old midfielder, currently at Real Sociedad, has a release clause of 60 million EUR, a figure considered affordable by the Catalan club.
Although the player has expressed his desire to stay at his current club and compete in the upcoming edition of the Champions League with them, Xavi's interest has piqued Barcelona's interest, and there could be an approach in the coming days.
Within Barcelona, Zubimendi's statements have been received positively and are considered normal and respectful towards his current club. Within the Blaugrana team, they understand that they must please Xavi and, therefore, will do everything possible to seduce the player from San Sebastián. The coach has made it clear that the holding midfield position is a priority in his reinforcement plans.
From San Sebastián, it is asserted that Barcelona's interest will be in vain, as Zubimendi has no intention of leaving Real Sociedad. Even the team's coach, Imanol Alguacil, is confident in having the midfielder for the next season, especially after the departure of Asier Illarramendi.
