Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández plans to contact the players who have been deemed surplus to requirements and will not be part of the team for the upcoming season before July 10, the official start of preseason. The aim of these calls is to expedite the exit operations, which are currently on hold. The club's financial situation is so delicate that it cannot guarantee the registration of new signings at the moment.
In a meeting held this morning at the Ciutat Esportiva, sporting director Mateu Alemany informed the club's sports management, with the prominent presence of Deco, about the current situation in order to make the necessary decisions and try to improve the club's situation.
According to Alemany, the discarded players show little willingness to leave, except for Franck Kessié, who has shown some receptiveness to a possible departure. On the other hand, players like Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres remain steadfast in their decision not to leave the club, as reported by AS newspaper.
Furthermore, the situation is complicated due to the restrictions imposed by Financial Fair Play, which greatly limit the club's possibilities for action. This situation is further exacerbated by the Viability Plan approved by LaLiga, which establishes a narrow margin for the entity and sets 40% as a significant obstacle. Even player departures could be affected if there is not enough salary margin to bring in the planned reinforcements.
In summary, the number of departures could be reduced if sufficient economic resources are not generated to make the necessary signings. It is a real challenge that prevents the club from operating on equal terms with its competitors in the market.
